SiN preloading on Steam; retail drops 5/9

The first installment of SiN Episodes, Emergence, is now available for pre-loading now on Valve's digital distribution network, Steam. Though the official May 9th release date is still over a month away, you'll be able to save 10% off of the $19.95 purchase price, and get instant access to the original SiN via Steam for a grand total of $17.95.
Don't have broadband and/or think Steam is the debil's bidness? Similar to their arrangement to distribute Valve's Half-Life 2, EA will be handling the retail distribution of SiN Episodes: Emergence. Both the retail version and the downloadable version will be available on May 9th.
If you're nervous about the episodic playing length and the gameplay-to-hard-earned-money ratio, you'll have to wait to read the reviews ... then again, you'll miss out on the discount and the freebie. Sneaky buggers.

I like how these SiN developers like to hide the first SiN game they did. Oh lord it was bad. bad bad bad. Hence why I have little hope for this new game.

It's in fact hidden so well that anyone preordering SiN Episodes: Emergence gets it free!

^^^ They'd never expect to look on their own hard drives for it!

It wasn't that bad, it was pretty cool for the time, gamewise. The voice acting was fun, too. Kind of an enjoyable B-movie of the gaming world, if you will.
But the years have not been kind, sadly. :(

#1 you lack reading skills cause #2 is correct you get the full version of the orginal release. Also i can vouch for the game as i have already played and beaten it. With about 6-7 hours of gameplay (more if your not a avid FPS gamer) its fun its new and on par with HL2. Which ive also played the new episode of =)

Well, you can probably tell by my username I'm a fan of the first game. Granted, it was a complete trainwreck when it was prematurely released, and even after a few patches it still had prominent glitches, but it was still a fun kitschy game (as Fortyseven mentioned, the game's atmosphere and Blade's dialog made the game for me).

SiN was only bad compared to Half-Life, which launched alongside it.
Then again, some of the games that are considered 'good' now, like FEAR, probably won't be considered in quite the same way as Half-Life is.

I remember feeling lucky when I scored invites to the games preview in Sydney.
I found it average and yes it was really overshadowed by Half-Life.
One thing I did love about the game was the zipper sound when you took items from corpses. Very satisfying.

Thats funny after having half life 2 for over a year and still put up playing with it because of its well documented stuttering problem that even THEY cant solve I will never buy another product from them until either they fix this problem or , well no either because I love the game, I dont want my money back, just fix the stupid problem. This has been driving people crazy for years and I have had to learn more about computer tweaking than I care to or have time for. A game is for ENJOYMENT, not anxiety. Get with the program millionaires.
